Summary of improving your aim in Infinite Warfare core game mode
How practicing aim can help you improve in Infinite Warfare Trying to improve a shitty K/D ratio? This drill is a great starting point. Landing more shots means winning more gun fights. Especially "50/50" gun fights (no cover). Every match is a collection of gunfights. Here's one way of looking at it. Let's say you engage in 28 gun fights in a match and go 8-20. Winning 25% more of those fights would put you at 10-18. This is a 39% increase in you K/D ratio! Another benefit of having better aim is if you catch somebody on their flank. If your aim is poor you might start shooting only land one or two hit markers. This might allow them to evade you, retaliate, and kill you. Pro's opinion on aiming in Infinite Warfare The pro, in this case, is TheXclusiveAce. Check out his video below and his YouTube channel. Like and subscribe. He has a lot of quality content. In this video, Ace outlines how to set up practice session to work on your aiming. This is done in a Custom Game. Don't practice this in a normal multiplayer game. The point is to get better on a specific aspect of your game, not to actually compete. Most of the video covers Ace's recommended settings for the Custom Game. Some of his recommendations are essential. Others are optional. |

The first thing he addresses is a product called KontrolFreeks. These are little clip-on extensions you put on your joystick controllers. They are intended to help you aim more precisely. Lot's of people besides Ace swear by them. Click the picture below to read reviews.
He recommends practicing in the Free-For-All game mode. Set your health to a 150% or more. Disable payloads and scorestreaks. The main point of the exercise is to work on aiming with your primary weapon. He also recommends playing against 11 bots. Set the difficulty to "recruit" for the same reason.
What about your weapon setup? He suggests using an NV4, Extended Mags, Scavenger, Dexterity, Hardwired, and Tac Resist. When in the Custom Game you should try not to miss a shot. Focus on making every shot count. You're playing against stupid recruit bots. You should not have to worry too much about getting surrounded.
With Extended Mags, you should get at least 5 kills before having to reload. Focus on accuracy first and speed second. That is, once you start getting 6 or 7 kills per magazine.
Don't worry about jump shots until your aim starts improving. Finally, he states that target assist can be on or off. It depends on your preference. He likes to leave it on, because it's always on during competitive gameplay.

An average player's opinion on aiming in Infinite Warfare
I've tried KontrolFreeks on the PlayStation 3. They might have helped me some, but they didn't work miracles. They weren't so great that I decided to buy them for the PlayStation 4 yet. If you're interested in KontrolFreeks click on the picture above.
I also differ in opinion with Ace about the type of weapon to use. His reasoning for suggesting NV4 is sound. But, I think it's more beneficial to practice with the weakest weapon in your loadouts. The exception being a shotgun. If you've ever used a shotgun you know it's very forgiving. It would defeat the purpose of this drill to use a shotgun.
Right now, I'm using the OSA in this drill. This weapon has a ton of recoil and is the most difficult for me to control. So, it is the most appropriate for me practice with.
Any time you are playing you should reflect on why you got killed. Whether it's practice or a real-life multiplayer game. The point of this drill isn't to stay alive. But, it's always beneficial to think about what you could have done differently.
Ace recommends practicing on the Precinct map. I would suggest mixing it up.
I agree that it's beneficial to leave Target Assist on. Practicing with Target Assist off might seem beneficial. You might be thinking that the added challenge will only make you better. My experience was that it actually hurt me. I got used to not having it. When I went to play a competitive multiplayer game I overcompensated.
I would also encourage you to continue to focus "working the map." Keep using cover and "hold" particular areas of the map. Don't run-and-gun like a madman because you are playing stupid bots. When you return to a competitive multiplayer game you're not going to be able to get away with that.
This is a critical exercise to perform to get better. My aim has improved a lot since I started doing it consistently. Try using it as a warm-up. It's a good way to get into the right mindset and to make sure your aim is sharp.
